Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal

The Toronto Raptors have an obvious reason for doing this deal – they’re getting the best player in it.

Furthermore, the Raptors may be in the ideal position to do so. This is already a good team. They were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference in 2021-22. If the Raptors are ready to take a step forward, adding Mitchell could be an ideal way to do so.

Granted, losing Anunoby and Trent Jr. will sting. Adding Mitchell is worth it. In fact, he’d arguably become the most dynamic offensive player on the Raptors. The fact that he wouldn’t be their definitive best player tells you exactly how talented this team would be.

A trio of Mitchell, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet would rank among the best trios in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, if reigning Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes takes a sophomore leap, who knows?
