Some NBA contracts may be better than others, but at the same time, some NBA teams are also better positioned to absorb those bad contracts. 

It may be that a team has a particular need for that player’s strengths. In that event, they could be more willing to pay a premium to provide their roster with the balance that it needs.

Still, there are generally even stronger candidates to absorb bad NBA contracts: Rebuilding teams. 

After all, a team that isn’t focused on winning doesn’t need to be focused on their books. They don’t need to keep space for expensive veterans.

For that reason, such clubs are often willing to take on bad contracts – if they have sweeteners attached, of course.
