On the subject of rebuilds, we can’t neglect to mention the Golden State Warriors. They practically wrote the manual on how to orchestrate one. 

After all, it’s easy to forget that, prior to the Warriors’ recent run of success, this team was a perennial cellar dweller for a long time. Following years of failure, things changed for the Warriors. When they did, they changed dramatically. 

Much of their success can be owed to smart draft decisions. Steph Curry was a steal at 7th, as was Klay Thompson at 11th. Still, nabbing Draymond Green with the 35th pick in the 2012 draft was probably their crowning achievement. 

For that reason, this won’t be an easy pill for the Warriors to swallow. Green has been the anchor of their long-elite defense for roughly a decade.

In fact, he’s one of the best defensive players in the history of the game. It begs a question:
