Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
Don’t look now, but this Warriors dynasty might be about to come to an end. Whether money is the root of all evil is a matter of debate, but it looks likely to be the root of this team’s demise.
That has not historically been the case. In fact, this Warriors’ ownership group deserves credit for their consistent willingness to spend over the luxury tax threshold. With that said, their books are about to get too dicey for anybody to handle.
Draymond Green is on record saying he thinks he deserves a max contract. Frankly, it’s hard to argue. Still, with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson on the books for big money, and big decisions regarding Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole looming, the Warriors may not be able to give him one.
Of course, Turner won’t be cheap either. Still, as a limited playmaker who won’t be expecting legacy pay, he may be cheaper. Either way, making this deal is better than letting Green walk for nothing.
