Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal

Pistons fans will surely have reservations about moving a first-round pick for Green, even if it is protected. Allow us to attempt to put those concerns at ease. 

Draymond Green is a winner. We know this about him. He’ll bring a wealth of championship experience to Motor City. The opportunity to have him share it with this young core could be worth the cost the Pistons are paying here alone. 

Of course, that’s not the only benefit they’ll reap. This deal could get the Pistons winning in 2022-23. If Cade takes a leap, they could be a formidable opponent next year. 

It’s not the traditional rebuilding format. Still, there’s value in getting their young core accustomed to winning in a Pistons uniform. If they start doing so now, who knows?
