Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal
If the Kings are trading Harrison Barnes, it had better be for an upgrade. Most would agree that OG Anunoby qualifies.
That’s true whether or not Anunoby is justified in feeling like he could handle more ball-handling reps. If he is, the Kings are getting a steal here. A version of Anunoby who doubles as a secondary playmaker would be invaluable to their win-now goals.
After all, he’s already one of the best 3-and-D wings in the league. That’s exactly why this deal works for the Kings even if he’s nothing more than that.
Harrison Barnes is a capable floor-spacer and defender in his own right, but at this point, Anunoby is better in both areas.
