Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
Naturally, there’s a little awkwardness for the Bulls here. Landing Turner without moving Vucevic leaves them with two starting-caliber big men.
With that said, it doesn’t have to be so awkward – especially if Vucevic is willing to take a role with the second unit.
Vucevic may not conjure up the traditional image of a sixth man. Typically, we expect a scoring guard to fill that role. At the same time, there’s nothing in the rules to suggest a big man can’t fulfill it. In fact, it might actually be a better role for Vooch on these Bulls.
After all, with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan eating up so many on-ball reps, the Bulls don’t have much bandwidth for Vucevic to do much outside of spacing the floor. With the second unit, he could operate as a low-block passing and scoring hub.

Meanwhile, Turner’s rim protection and lower-usage offensive style will be a welcomed addition to the starting lineup. All told, if Vucevic is just willing to swallow his pride, this trade could benefit everyone involved.
