Why The Indiana Pacers Do The Deal

Realistically, all the Pacers need is for Patrick Williams to stay healthy, and this trade looks great on their end.

After all, Williams has looked the part of the fourth overall pick that he was in 2020 when he has taken to the floor. In fact, Williams looks like the prototypical, modern 3-and-D wing. His combination of size and mobility allows him to guard multiple positions, and his three-point shot also looks consistently accurate.

On the other hand, Coby White doesn’t look quite as promising at this stage of his career. Still, it’s too early to write the seventh pick in the 2019 draft off. White has a great positional size that should allow him to be a combo guard, as should his ball-handling and shot creation abilities.

Of course, the Pacers don’t need both players to hit their ceilings to justify this trade. If Williams can just stay healthy and maintain his typical production in the process, that should be fair value for Turner.

Any production they can get from White would be a bonus in that event.

If he does hit his ceiling in that event, this could be a coup for the Pacers. Can the Bulls afford to take that risk?
