How This Trade Impacts Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz would likely decline an offer like this from the Washington Wizards as it is lacking the draft capital that they are seeking.
But, if the Wizards can convince the New York Knicks to adjust the protection on the 2023 first-round pick, opening up two more first-rounders to send to Utah, it comes with a much more intriguing package.
Ultimately, three first-round picks is an offer that can be topped by other teams. But not many other teams can offer as many recent first-round picks in a package as the Wizards can, who are sending three in this deal and could include a fourth in Corey Kispert if the Jazz are adamant enough.
Rui Hachimura is eligible for an extension this offseason, something that Utah was reportedly looking to avoid as he will be making market value next season. Deni Avdija has shown the skills to become an elite defensive player and if his offense ever comes around, he is a legitimate building block.

Johnny Bryant struggled in the Las Vegas Summer League but was the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft. Having him for his entire rookie contract would certainly be appealing to Utah. Kispert is a 3-point sniper that every team in the NBA seeks to have in their rotation.
Kyle Kuzma is the most accomplished player in this trade package that the Jazz would be receiving. He has championship experience from his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and has come into his own with the Wizards.

He is under contract for the 2022-23 season but has a player option for the 2023-24 campaign. The Jazz should have no issues flipping him again ahead of the deadline for more assets, especially if he is given freedom as the No. 1 option in for what will be a rebuilding team.
