Chicago Bulls
Utah Jazz Receive: G Lonzo Ball, F Patrick Williams, 2023 First-Round Pick (POR via CHI), 2025 First-Round Pick (CHI), 2026 First-Round Pick (Swap – CHI)
Chicago Bulls Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
The Chicago Bulls entered the 2021-22 season with an all-in on offense approach. We knew they’d have trouble stopping teams, but they’d hoped to simply outscore them on a routine basis.
The model worked – to a limited extent. The Chicago Bulls won 46 games and lost in the first round of the playoffs. To advance next year, most expect them to make moves to bolster their shaky defense.
What if they leaned further into offense instead?
This group may face a steep learning curve. In all likelihood, Mitchell would have to function as a point guard more than he ever has alongside Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. At the same time, DeRozan has taken leaps as a playmaker in recent years. If Mitchell can make even marginal gains in playmaking, the Chicago Bulls could run the best offense in the NBA following this deal.
As for the Jazz, they get two potential building blocks in the 24-year-old Ball and the 20-year-old Williams. On top of two first-round picks and a swap, that’s good value for the organization.

Still, most are expecting the Jazz to covet a package that’s more focused around draft capital – if they’re entertaining packages built around young stars, they may prefer the next proposal.
