Sacramento Kings Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
This is a proposal we’ve floated around a few times on Analysis. Yet, it hasn’t picked up steam as an otherwise popular suggestion.
Apparently, it’s a hill we’re willing to die on.
Frankly, it just makes sense. The Sacramento Kings have missed the playoffs for 16 consecutive seasons. It’s no secret that they’re looking to end that NBA-record streak in 2022-23. As it stands, they may or may not have the firepower to do so.
Adding Mitchell would put the Sacramento Kings over the top. A trio of Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox, and Mitchell would surely put this team over the top. The only remaining question would be whether they could advance past the first round.
Meanwhile, the Jazz get their draft picks with this deal. In total, they’d be receiving two unprotected picks and three swaps in this exchange. Perhaps that’s still not as much as they’d hoped for.
