Brooklyn Nets Receive: F/C Karl-Anthony Towns, F Taurean Prince, 2028 First-Round Pick (Swap – MIN)
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Kevin Durant
Previously, it was rumored that the Brooklyn Nets approached the Minnesota Timberwolves about a package featuring Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and draft capital for Durant.
One wonders if they saw a flock of pigs flying across the sky as they proposed that package.
Simply put, it’s never going to happen. Trading a soon-to-be third-year player on the cusp of superstardom for Durant would be questionable on its own merit. Including a ready-made star who’s 7 years Durant’s junior is simply unreasonable.
As a matter of fact, given the age gap between the two, a Durant-for-Towns swap seems roughly fair. We’ve got the Wolves throwing in a pick swap and Prince’s contract to make the salaries match. If the Wolves were willing to part with their longtime franchise big man, this would be a good return for the Nets.

Meanwhile, this trade has the Minnesota Timberwolves cutting their Twin Towers experiment short before it even begins.
Durant is a more logical fit with the rest of this roster. Alongside Edwards, D’Angelo Russell and the newly acquired Rudy Gobert, he’d be giving this franchise the best shot they’ve ever had at an NBA title.
