In the NBA, nobody ever wants to sell low. At the same time, sometimes it’s hard to avoid.

For the most part, the Los Angeles Lakers would likely have to make that concession if they were to trade Anthony Davis this summer. He’s been injured for the better part of two years. His trade value is surely compromised.

At the same time, so is Durant’s. After all, he issued a trade request. Teams will know that the Nets have lost leverage by the virtue of that fact.

If the Nets are willing to take a gamble on Davis, this could work for both sides. For what it’s worth, a bounce-back year for the former MVP candidate is far from unthinkable at 29. If he returns to his previous form, the Nets are getting one of the most dominant two-way big men in basketball here.
