Brooklyn Nets Receive: C Myles Turner, G T.J. McConnell
Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Recently, reports suggest that the Brooklyn Nets are wary of selling low on Ben Simmons. That’s fair. Nobody likes to sell low in any situation. Does this deal qualify?
Realistically, it’s on the cusp. Some will observe that the last time Simmons was traded, it was (along with some draft capital) for James Harden. Unfortunately for the Nets, times have changed since then.
Simmons has proven unreliable. Whether it’s his body or his mind, something keeps him from playing basketball on a regular basis.
Furthermore, the Brooklyn Nets were backed into a corner with Harden. They could, of course, hold onto Simmons until another team is in the same position.

In doing so, they’d run the risk of his value declining further. In this deal, at least they retain some value in one of the league’s best 3-and-D big men and a solid, heady point veteran point guard in McConnell.
