Atlanta Hawks Receive: C Myles Turner, G/F Buddy Hield
Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Bogdan Bogdanovic, C Onyeka Onkongwu, G/F Justin Holiday, G Tyrese Martin
In essence, this deal intends to swap Myles Turner and Buddy Hield in exchange for Onyeka Onkongwu. Everyone else is here to make the money work. On that note, Justin Holiday was recently signed, so this deal couldn’t go down until August 31.
Signing Holiday is far from the biggest move the Atlanta Hawks made this summer. They traded three unprotected first-round picks to the Spurs in exchange for Dejounte Murray.
From a talent acquisition point of view, it was a great move. On the other hand, Murray’s fit as a poor-shooting ball-handler is questionable. In order to make it work, the Hawks should look to improve their spacing.
This deal does it in spades. They’ll be inserting Turner into their starting lineup over the non-shooting Clint Capela, and adding one of the league’s best floor-spacers in Hield. Granted, Capela’s presence on the roster may make for awkwardness.

That shouldn’t deter the Atlanta Hawks from making this deal. In all likelihood, they can flip Capela to a center-needy club later on in the season.
