The Indiana Pacers, for years, waffled between whether they wanted to begin a rebuild or not. For basically the first time in franchise history, they decided to embark on a rebuild and the process started ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline.
Veterans Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert and Torrey Craig were traded away. Indiana received some draft capital and young players that they have high hopes for with Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Smith being the highlights thus far.
The rebuild continued in the offseason with the selection of Bennedict Mathurin in the 2022 NBA Draft. They also traded veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics for a package of five players and a 2023 first-round pick. Could there be more moves on the horizon?
Two more veterans have been garnering a lot of attention; Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. Hield was acquired from the Sacramento Kings as part of the Sabonis deal, while Turner has spent his entire career with the Pacers since being selected No. 11 in 2015.
