What the Toronto Raptors accomplished last season deserves a lot of praise. Many thought they were heading into a bit of a rebuild, especially after franchise icon Kyle Lowry left in free agency. However, they ended up being a playoff team.
Nick Nurse did an excellent job making the most of what he had to work with last season with this Toronto Raptors roster. Lacking size on the interior, he made a game plan that accentuated their strengths, which were the length and athleticism throughout the roster.
It helped speed teams up and resulted in a lot of wins. However, once the postseason rolled around, the game plan was exposed a bit as they were no match on the inside for the Philadelphia 76ers, who dominated the paint.
The Raptors leaned even more into that game plan this offseason as they brought Otto Porter Jr. to Toronto away from the Golden State Warriors. While the strategy has proven it can work, Toronto could use a little bit more size.
