Chicago Bulls
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Lonzo Ball, G Alex Caruso, F Patrick Williams, G Ayo Dosunmu, 2023 First-Round Pick (POR via CHI), 2027 First-Round Pick (CHI), 2028 First-Round Pick (Swap – CHI), 2029 First-Round Pick (CHI)
Chicago Bulls Receive: F Kevin Durant
Nets owner Joe Tsai recently stated that he’d be more proud to own a hard-working play-in team than a starrier team that doesn’t put forth the same effort. This deal has him putting his money where his mouth is.
The Nets don’t receive a superstar in this deal. They don’t receive a mountain of draft capital either – the Chicago Bulls don’t have it to offer. To some, it may feel like a poo-poo platter.
With that said, the Nets do receive four quality NBA players here. Three of them are also on the right side of 25 (Caruso is 28). Most notably, all four of them work extremely hard.
All the players the Nets receive here are two-way players. Williams probably has the highest upside of the group. If he can turn his health around, he’s an elite floor-spacing wing/forward who could contend for All-Defensive honors throughout his career.
LATEST NBA NEWS AND RUMORS: Kevin Durant Trade Market Remains Complex For Brooklyn Nets
Meanwhile, Ball and Caruso are proven commodities from the Chicago Bulls, and Dosunmu exceeded expectations in his rookie year. The Nets may be able to find better value than this, but if they’re intent on getting younger while staying competitive, this trade could entice them.
