Miami Heat Receive: G Eric Gordon, F Kenyon Martin Jr.
Houston Rockets Receive: G Gabe Vincent, F Haywood Highsmith, F Duncan Robinson, 2027 First-Round Pick
With the departure of P.J. Tucker, the Miami Heat make a trade with the Houston Rockets to take a swing at filling his spot on the roster, as they currently don’t have one in the fold.
Eric Gordon is the headliner in this deal for the Heat, as he will bolster their wing rotation. The Tucker replacement would be Kenyon Martin Jr., who requested a trade from the Rockets that they are in no rush to fulfill.
It would be a worthwhile risk for the Heat to take to see if Martin can thrive in an expanded role. The price to acquire him isn’t overly steep, but Miami is losing two rotation players in Gabe Vincent and Duncan Robinson. Haywood Highsmith is also included to match salaries.
The first-round pick could be very valuable for Houston, as some of the Heat’s core such as Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler could be long gone by that point.
