After losing Jalen Brunson in free agency, the Dallas Mavericks could certainly use a buoy to their guard rotation, even with second-round pick Jaden Hardy joining the mix.

Hardy likely won’t be able to contribute at a high-level right away, and any team with Luka Doncic leading the charge should be planning to make a deep playoff run at the least.

While Beverley won’t replace any of the shot creation that Brunson provided, he will bring something new to the table that the Dallas Mavericks desperately need more of: perimeter defense.

Adding an elite stopper in the backcourt alongside Luka will take pressure off of the Slovenian Superstar, freeing him up to focus his energy solely on what he does best: get and create buckets.

The Dallas Mavericks are short on assets, but Beverley should be attainable for an affordable price. The Mavs need to find a way to compete even within the financial hole they created for themselves with their original acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis and the subsequent trade to ship him off.
