Patrick Beverley is a rare class of player in the NBA. He’s one of the few role players in the league that’s good enough to be desired by nearly every team but not quite in the realm of a franchise building block.

This strange level in value has turned him into quite the journeyman, a role usually designated for those that are best off rounding out the end of a rotation.

After landing on the Utah Jazz by the Rudy Gobert deal, the veteran defensive guard may soon be on the move.

At first, the Jazz seemed inclined to rebuild around Donovan Mitchell after offloading the Stifle Tower for a haul that included a mixed bag of veterans, young players, and future draft capital. That future may have been one that Beverley could have been a part of, offering a strong point-of-attack defender to cover for one of Spida’s few weaknesses.

But it was recently reported that the Jazz now listen to offers for their young star guard. If Utah were to move on from Mitchell and lean in wholly into a reset, they’d likely be looking to trade Beverley, too, as they’ll have no use for the 34-year-old ball handler.

The Jazz should be able to nab an additional asset or two for his two-way services as there are more than a handful of playoff hopefuls who could certainly use his grit on their roster.
