Utah Jazz Make All Veteran Players Available In Trade Talks

Utah Jazz, NBA Trade Rumors

The Utah Jazz is coming off yet another disappointing early exit from the NBA postseason. This year, they were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round despite Dallas not having Luka Doncic for the first three games.

It was the second consecutive year that they lost a series despite their opponent playing without their best player. In 2021, with the series tied at two games apiece, the LA Clippers lost Kawhi Leonard to a knee injury and the Jazz went on to lose the next two games and the series altogether.

So, this offseason, it felt like the Jazz would make some moves. Danny Ainge usually cleans house when he joins a front office and this offseason would be no different. It started on the coaching staff with Quin Snyder stepping down and being replaced by Will Hardy, a Boston Celtics assistant coach.

Then, they moved to the roster. Royce O’Neale was traded to the Brooklyn Nets for a 2023 first-round pick to get things started. Soon after that, Rudy Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for five players, four first-round draft picks, and a pick swap.

LATEST NBA NEWS AND TRADE RUMORS: Utah Jazz Open To Donovan Mitchell Trade Talks

While reports surfaced that the Jazz planned to rebuild the roster around All-Star Donovan Mitchell, they have changed their mind. They are taking calls on Mitchell, with the New York Knicks being the most likely landing spot.

In addition to Mitchell, the team is making all of their veteran players available for a trade as Utah is heading for a rebuild.

“Sources say, the Jazz have made all of their veteran players available in trade talks, and there are no untouchable players currently on the roster. Guards Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley and Jordan Clarkson have been pursued by teams across the league in recent weeks.”

Patrick Beverley and Malik Beasley were two of the players acquired in the Gobert trade, so they cannot be traded for a few weeks. Other veterans such as Mike Conley Jr. have been mentioned in trade scenarios earlier in the offseason and the expiring contract of Bojan Bogdanovic could also be on the move.

The Utah Jazz is likely aiming for as much draft capital and young players as possible in these trades. Expiring contracts to help clear salary cap space would also appeal to them as they are tearing down the entire roster despite being one of the most successful regular season teams under Snyder.
