Fans of the Utah Jazz are surely tired of seeing their team in trade rumors. They’ve been circling this organization since before the 2021-22 season came to a close.
Yet, we’ve heard nothing about a trade request from Donovan Mitchell. It was obvious that his relationship with Rudy Gobert was souring, but that’s no longer an issue.
After all, the Jazz already sent Gobert packing. Some could have interpreted that as the team acquiescing to Mitchell’s preferences. On the other hand, the pick-focused return the Jazz got suggests otherwise.
The Jazz look poised to rebuild this roster. With a sudden surplus of draft capital and downgrade in win-now talent, that seems like the right choice.
