3. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks came into the offseason looking to upgrade the center position. They succeeded in that, as they acquired Christian Wood from the Houston Rockets and signed JaVale McGee in free agency.
However, another gaping hole was created in their rotation when Jalen Brunson left in free agency, signing with the New York Knicks. Dallas can slide Spencer Dinwiddie into Brunson’s spot in the starting lineup, but the Mavericks are left dangerously thin with him and Luka Doncic as the only established ball handlers and playmakers on the roster.
Replacing Brunson isn’t going to be easy, but they should at least place a call to the Jazz and see if a deal can be made. Doncic is on record saying he hopes the team makes more moves the rest of the offseason, putting some pressure on the front office to continue reshaping the roster.
Mitchell would be an excellent addition as the co-star to Doncic in the Dallas Mavericks’ backcourt. He would provide them with another go-to scorer to take pressure off of Doncic. Mitchell’s improvements as a playmaker also mean he can run the offense from time to time when Doncic is out of the game.

There were reports that the Dallas Mavericks would go looking for another All-Star to pair with Doncic this offseason and this could be their chance to do that. Cobbling together a trade package to entice the Jazz won’t be easy as Dallas is short on assets, but they have to at least make a call and try.
