Utah Jazz Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Mike Conley
This deal only makes sense for the Utah Jazz if they’re trading Donovan Mitchell elsewhere. If they plan on keeping him through 2022-23, downgrading Mike Conley for Spencer Dinwiddie in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks would be senseless.
On the other hand, if they’re rebuilding, flipping a 34-year-old for a first-round pick is simply good business.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks might be the appropriate partner to make that happen given Jalen Brunson’s departure from Dallas to the Knicks in free agency. The Mavs should be in active pursuit of a secondary ball-handler this summer.
Conley could be a perfect fit alongside Luka Doncic. He’s an elite floor-spacer who provides value off the ball when Doncic is running the show. Meanwhile, he’s a solid, high-feel playmaker who can keep the Mavericks’ offense humming when Doncic needs a rest.
