The Utah Jazz were always going to make difficult decisions this NBA offseason. As a matter of fact, they’ve already landed on one big choice.
With that said, whether it was difficult is another question. Rudy Gobert is an immensely valuable player. He is the best rim protector in the entire NBA. With that said, the haul the Jazz received for him may not have been something they thought twice about.
All told, the Jazz received three quality players (two of whom are 25 or under), three unprotected first-round picks and one protected one in exchange for Gobert. It was a king’s ransom. Now, the team is at a crossroads. They could retool, or they could rebuild.
No matter which route they’re taking, they could entertain a Mike Conley trade. His pairing with Donovan Mitchell is seamless on offense, but the undersized backcourt struggle on the defensive end.
