Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Norman Powell, G/F Luke Kennard
LA Clippers Receive: G Kyrie Irving
We can’t stress enough that from a trade value perspective, Irving is a horribly distressed asset.
This is not fair value in terms of pure on-court ability. Norm Powell is a dynamic scoring guard, and Luke Kennard is a reliable floor spacer. Still, neither is remotely in Irving’s league as a basketball player.
That’s a factual statement. Irving’s off-court antics over recent years have been unfortunate. He remains, arguably, the best ball-handler in NBA history. Irving hits shots that few players in NBA history would even consider taking.
He’s simply a high-risk proposition for any team. If this works out for the Clippers, they’ll likely have stolen an NBA championship.
