Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Jaylen Brown, C Robert Williams, 2025 First-Round Pick (BOS)
Boston Celtics Receive: F Kevin Durant
Between these first two deals, it’s hard to say which the Brooklyn Nets would be more willing to accept.
On the one hand, stocking back up on draft capital would be wise in the wake of the previously mentioned James Harden trade. They’re exceedingly low on it.
On the other hand, acquiring considerable draft capital from a team that’s acquiring Kevin Durant has its drawbacks. Strengthening a team only to take their draft picks is akin to shooting one’s self in the foot. Furthermore, this trade is more likely to keep those Rockets picks out of the lottery than the last one.
After all, the Nets are landing a real star here in Jaylen Brown. At 25, he’s got the potential to be their leading man for years to come. They’re also getting a high-end defensive big man in Williams. Following this deal, they should find themselves back in the playoffs in 2022-23.
