The Los Angeles Lakers have to reshape their roster this offseason if they want any hope of turning things around. Finding players that have skill sets that better fit around their Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook, should none of them be traded, is paramount.
While Kemba Walker wouldn’t help the Lakers’ defensive woes in the backcourt, he would provide Los Angeles with a player that can space the floor and knock down 3-pointers.
Catch and shoot opportunities weren’t plentiful last season with the New York Knicks, but when he got them, Walker converted.
He knocked down 40.9 percent of his catch-and-shoot 3-point attempts, which would be the majority of the shot attempts he would get playing around those three players. He also made 41.7 percent of his wide-open 3-point attempts.

Connecting at that clip would help keep the middle of the floor open for them to operate as Walker will make teams pay that sag off of him. That wasn’t something that the Los Angeles Lakers always had last season and will be looking to add more of this time around.
Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers struggled to find a backup point guard. Walker hasn’t come off the bench since he was on his rookie contract, but at this stage of his career, is likely the role he is best suited for.

Los Angeles doesn’t have money to spend, but Walker should be able to be signed for the veteran’s minimum. They can offer him a sizable role as well, which could draw him to the purple and gold.
