3 Intriguing Landing Spots For Kemba Walker In Free Agency

Kemba Walker, New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The New York Knicks came into the offseason determined to clear salary-cap space so that they could become buyers in NBA free agency. On the eve of free agency, they have achieved that goal, as they parted ways with numerous veterans without taking back any salary.

One of the veterans that were on the move is Kemba Walker. Walker was traded to the Detroit Pistons on draft night as part of a three-team trade that also included the Charlotte Hornets, as six draft picks were also exchanged in the deal.

However, Walker’s stop in the Motor City won’t be long. He and the Pistons are already working on a buyout agreement, and once he clears waivers, he will become a free agent.

This is something that Walker is used to by now, as he went through the same ordeal last offseason following a trade from the Boston Celtics to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who bought him out before he landed with the Knicks.

For those counting at home, that is technically four organizations in less than a year for Walker and he will be hoping to add a fifth at some point this offseason. His tenure with the Knicks started with so much optimism, but his body began letting him down and he was unable to perform at a high level on the court.

His struggles defensively were on full display and he lacks the same explosiveness and quickness that made him such a dangerous player offensively.

While he likely cannot handle starter’s minutes any longer, Walker should still be able to find a role off the bench for a team looking for some scoring punch in the backcourt.

Who could be looking for a player like that? Here are three intriguing landing spots for Walker in free agency this year.
