Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks’ plans this offseason could be altered right away depending on what happens with Jalen Brunson. While all signs are pointing toward him joining the New York Knicks, Dallas is not going to let him go easily, as they are sending a contingent including Mark Cuban, Nico Harrison, Michael Finley and Jason Kidd to try and convince him not to leave.
Based on reports, that will be a tall task, but until Brunson puts pen to paper on a deal with the Knicks, anything can happen. But, for argument’s sake, let’s say Brunson does sign with New York. Now, Dallas has to find a replacement for him.
A sign-and-trade deal is something that could occur, as the Dallas Mavericks would like to get something for Brunson, not lose him for nothing. But, as they are already over the cap, signing free agents will be tough.
But, Kemba Walker could present an affordable option to add to the backcourt. Walker showed last season that he can still knock down perimeter jumpers, providing another floor spacer around Luka Doncic.

His defense leaves a lot to be desired, but with the improvements that the Mavericks made on that end of the court last season, Dallas should be able to overcome it. Surrounding him with long, versatile defenders will help hide his deficiencies on that end of the court.
Dallas has previously been in the market for another ball-handler and if they lose Brunson, that need will return. While not the same player he used to be, Walker could be all that the Dallas Mavericks can afford.
