Unlike the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat have enjoyed a sustained run of success for a long time. If you asked those around the organization, they’d be quick to tell you that their culture has allowed them to do so.
By acquiring Irving, they’d be testing the limits of their confidence in that culture.
If it works out, it’ll pay dividends. We already spent time highlighting Irving’s talents. If there’s one organization that can hone them, it may be the Miami Heat.
Nobody’s saying they aren’t taking a risk. Of course, they are. In all likelihood, a deal would center around Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry’s contract. If Irving won’t show up for work, moving on from the talented young Herro for no reason will sting.
