The Charlotte Hornets have been in the market for a new center for a few years at this point. But, they have to be shrewd in their pursuit of one as their roster is going to start getting very expensive soon with Miles Bridges looking to cash in on an extension.
Mo Bamba is a sensible target from a monetary standpoint. He shouldn’t break the bank and would be a lot cheaper than pursuing someone such as Rudy Gobert. While Bamba isn’t at that level of defender, as Gobert has taken home the Defensive Player of the Year award three times, he is no slouch.
Bamba is a strong rim protector, something that the Charlotte Hornets could use as they need an anchor to their defense. They just cannot get stops when they need them most and Bamba would help be a stop to that.
On offense, he would be a great fit as well. Charlotte has a high-octane offense that excels in the open court with LaMelo Ball running the show.

Bamba can hurt teams as a trailer on fast breaks with his 3-point shooting, as he knocked down 38.1 percent of his attempts last season. That kind of spacing will open things up even more for the Charlotte Hornets.
Only 24 years old, Bamba could be the long-term building block that Charlotte has been looking for alongside Ball, Bridges and P.J. Washington.
