Why The Indiana Pacers Do The Deal

In a word: yes. The Indiana Pacers are the perfect team to offer OG Anunoby a larger role.

The most important player on this team is Tyrese Haliburton. After the Pacers acquired the young floor general at last year’s deadline, he performed like a bonafide star. After him, this group’s pecking order gets fuzzy.

Malcolm Brogdon would be the natural second fiddle, but the Pacers are widely expected to move him this summer. The team just selected Bennedict Mathurin in the 2022 draft. He’s got a lot of upside, but as a rookie, he’s unlikely to step on Anunoby’s toes if he does join the team.

If Anunoby does have some untapped potential, he could be a steal for the Pacers. With that said, even if he doesn’t, they’re getting a quality player here. Anunoby is one of the best 3-and-D wings in the NBA.
