For the Indiana Pacers, they signal an intention to rebuild. They’re essentially swapping the 27-year-old Turner for the 24-year-old Anunoby. There will be no remaining questions about their direction following this trade.

As for the Toronto Raptors, they’re pushing all-in for 2022-23. That’s not to say that Turner is a significantly more impactful player than Anunoby. In fact, they’re in a similar tier as far as NBA players go.

It’s simply that the Raptors are filling a position of need with this trade. They would be acquiring their starting big man.
