Worst Landing Spot: Detroit Pistons
Ordinarily, we wouldn’t even consider the Detroit Pistons as a viable landing spot for Harrison Barnes. They’re one of the worst teams in the NBA. Why would they add a veteran like Barnes?
Well, it requires a little reading of the tea leaves to entertain the possibility. Mostly, the Pistons would be acquiring Barnes by way of also acquiring the fourth overall pick in the draft from the Kings. Barnes could be the casulty of a Jerami Grant trade.
After all, the Kings need win-now upgrades. Grant is a marginally better player than Barnes. Meanwhile, the fourth overall pick is a marginally better selection than the fifth pick the Detroit Pistons currently hold.
In other words, a deal makes sense for everyone involved besides Barnes. The Kings get their win-now upgrade, while the Pistons get the chance to presumably select Jaden Ivey.

All of which is fair enough. In the NBA, sometimes logical trades land players in situations that aren’t ideal. Still, if Barnes ends up on the rebuilding Detroit Pistons, it’s hard to imagine a worse situation for the veteran wing.
