By now, you’ve surely read a Gobert trade rumor or two. If the Jazz didn’t move on from the 3x Defensive Player of the Year this summer, that in itself would shake up the NBA.

On the other hand, Gobert-to-Memphis rumors are not especially prevalent. More commonly, the Stifle Tower is linked to teams like the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks.

We figured we’d switch it up. Gobert would make the Grizzlies bonafide contenders next season. He’s effectively a massive Adams upgrade. He and Jaren Jackson Jr. would make for one of the most formidable defensive frontcourt duos in the NBA next season.

Meanwhile, this trade is interesting for the Jazz as well. It finds them walking a line between rebuilding and staying competitive. It lands them two tough perimeter defenders they were sorely lacking in 2021-22 in Brooks and Clarke, and a Gobert proxy in Adams.
