Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, F Rui Hachimura
Washington Wizards Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon
Some teams will shake the league up by trading their best player this summer. The Wizards do not appear to be a likely candidate. By all accounts, they’re likely to sign Bradley Beal to a long-term extension this summer.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Beal is destined to spend the remainder of his prime in the nation’s capital. A long-term deal benefits the team in two ways. It allows them a better chance of keeping Beal, but it also boosts his trade value. Teams will be more willing to give up assets for him on a long-term contract.
Still, inking an extension makes him guaranteed to open the 2022-23 season in a Wizards uniform. With that in mind, the team might as well look to upgrade their roster heading into the season. As it stands, they ought to improve their point guard position.
Malcolm Brogdon would make for a dramatic improvement. His addition would also allow recently drafted rookie Johnny Davis a longer leash. Davis could be a reserve in his rookie season, as he can play either guard position. Finally, the Wizards can afford to part with Hachimura with Deni Avdija and Kyle Kuzma on the roster.

A core of Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Brogdon may not be favorites to win the NBA championship, but they ought to make the playoffs. If the sum is greater than the parts in Washington, who knows what they might do when they get there.
