New York Knicks Receive: G Dejounte Murray
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Alec Burks, G/F Cam Reddish, 2023 FRP via DAL, 2024 FRP, 2026 FRP
After some fancy trade wire finagling from President Leon Rose, the New York Knicks suddenly have a cache of future first-round picks and can certainly afford to part ways with a few to upgrade their roster. Their biggest need was hands down at starting point guard last season.
The Knicks experimented with Kemba Walker in that spot before Head Coach Tom Thibodeau eventually had to shoehorn Alec Burks into that role. A portion of the fans will claim that Immanuel Quickley is ready for that role, but he still has some growing to do before he’s ready to spearhead a playoff-caliber offense.
This trade would fill that spot admirably and land New York the additional star power that they’ve been lusting after for a decade now. Murray two-way excellence would make him a household name if the national media gave the Spurs the respect they deserve, but he’ll be quite the marketable player once he arrives in New York.
