San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Patrick Beverly, F Jaden McDaniels, 2023 FRP, 2025 FRP
The Minnesota Timberwolves showed throughout the Play-In Tournament and in their first-round battle against the Memphis Grizzlies that they’re ready to compete now.
Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns form one of the most talented young duos in the league, and the Timberwolves need to capitalize now while Edwards is still playing on his rookie contract.
The Timberwolves’ roster needed two things enter this offseason: an upgrade at point guard over Patrick Beverly and a defensive-minded center. General Manager Tim Connelly addressed one of those needs in the draft when he traded for the 22nd-overall pick in order to acquire Auburn’s former anchor, Walker Kessler.
With this trade, they suddenly have one of the most complete rosters in the league. Dejounte Murray is the perfect backcourt partner for Anthony Edwards, capable of setting him up on offense and covering for him on defense. His slashing and playmaking make him the perfect floor general for a young Timberwolves squad capable of catching fire at any time.
