Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Collin Sexton

This trade has the Dallas Mavericks sending out a similar package as the last deal. They’re sending out a veteran and their 2025 first-round pick to pouch a talented young player coming into their rookie extension.

This time, they’re trading Dinwiddie instead of Hardaway Jr. Where the Magic are probably impartial to which veterans they’re receiving, the Cavaliers intend to win games next season. They’ll find more use for Dinwiddie’s ball-handling than they will for Hardaway Jr.’s floor spacing.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are targeting a much different player in this deal than the last one. They’ll make this move if they believe Sexton can be the secondary ball-handler behind Doncic on a long-term basis.

There’s ample reason to believe he could be. The last time we saw Sexton fully healthy, he was averaging 24.3 points per game as a Cavalier in 2020-21. He’s a dynamic scorer who puts pressure on defenses, and he can space the floor for Doncic when they’re sharing the floor.
