Miami Heat Receive: G Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Kyle Lowry, G Tyler Herro
Remember everything we just said about Kyrie Irving? Disregard it.
OK fine. That’s easier said than done. On the other hand, we could say plenty of positive things about Irving to offset all the criticism we levied at him in the first slide.
For example, Kyrie Irving may be the best ball-handler of all time. He can generate a shot out of thin air, using his handle and wildly deep layup package to score on all three levels. Irving’s commitment to the game may be questionable, but his ability to play it is unimpeachable.
If the Miami Heat are willing to gamble on a pure talent upgrade, this is the deal for them. Herro is a similarly gifted player, but the odds would suggest that he’ll never reach Irving’s level. Meanwhile, the much-vaunted Heat culture may well change Irving’s habits.

On the other hand, if the Heat aren’t willing to gamble on that outcome, that’s fair enough. This next deal finds them making a slightly less dangerous gamble.
