If the NBA rumor mill is to be trusted, life just keeps getting harder for the Brooklyn Nets.

Recent reports suggest that they’re at an “impasse” with Kyrie Irving in his contract negotiations. It’s hard to blame the organization. In all likelihood, Irving is looking for long-term money. Simply put, he hasn’t shown enough commitment to basketball over recent years to claim he deserves it.

On the other hand, it’s also been suggested that Kevin Durant will request a trade if Irving isn’t retained. Who knows if that’s true, but it looms as an unsettling possibility. The Nets may need to make major changes this offseason.

On the other hand, the Heat don’t. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals this season. They could justify doing some light tinkering with their roster this summer and largely running the same group back.
