Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Washington Wizards Receive: F/C John Collins, F Deandre Hunter, 2023 First-Round Pick (ATL), 2023 First-Round Pick (PHI via BKN)
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Bradley Beal
The Atlanta Hawks were frequently linked to Ben Simmons ahead of the 2021-22 trade deadline. Could they still be interested in him?
It’s hard to say. On the one hand, his fit with this roster is intriguing. When healthy, Simmons is one of the best defensive players in the NBA. Trae Young, on the other hand, is one of the worst.
Meanwhile, Simmons has offensive shortcomings that Young does not. Gambling on that synergy could pay off for the Hawks. If these two young stars can make up for each other’s weaknesses, they could be one of the best young duos in the league.
On the other hand, the Hawks could justify passing on Simmons as well. His availability has come into question over the last two seasons. His future, to say the least, is murky.
