Washington Wizards Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Bradley Beal
This one-for-one swap makes a lot of sense for both sides.
The Washington Wizards add a player who’s three years younger than Beal in Simmons. If he can get healthy, they may be tailor-made to suit his unique skill set. The Wizards are well-equipped to be the team that unlocks Simmons.
What does Simmons need to succeed? A stretch five? The Wizards check that box. Kristaps Porzingis and Thomas Bryant ensure that they’ve got shooting at that position for most of the game.
Floor spacing wings? Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Corey Kispert, and others say hi. Multipositional, athletic wings who can do damage in transition? Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija, reporting for duty.

The idea of Simmons on this team is enticing. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets get an obvious fit upgrade in Beal. He’ll team up with Kyrie Irving to make one of the best backcourts in the NBA. With Kevin Durant sharing the floor with them, they could be the league’s best offense.
Of course, there’s a world where the Washington Wizards don’t have faith in Simmons. If you haven’t heard, not everybody does. If that’s how their front office feels, maybe bringing in a third team could make a deal more plausible.
