Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Harrison Barnes, G/F Donte DiVincenzo, G/F Jeremy Lamb, G Davion Mitchell, 2023 First-Round Pick (SAC)
Sacramento Kings Receive: F/C Anthony Davis
With this deal, the Lakers take a depth over star power approach. It would essentially be the exact opposite of their strategy last summer.
After all, when the Lakers acquired Russell Westbrook, they waved goodbye to any chance they had of assembling a deep cast of contributors. With him, Davis, and LeBron James eating up max contract slots, the Lakers were resigned to finding supporting pieces on a budget.
This deal alleviates that issue. The Lakers land four quality rotation players here. If they can find a stretch big man elsewhere to complement Westbrook, and he can regain some of his prior form, it could actually make them a better team in 2022-23.
At the same time, the Lakers probably lose this deal on paper. Davis has been plagued by injuries over recent years, but he’s still likely the best player in this trade.

If the Lakers feel that they’d need a premium asset in order to part with Davis, the Kings may be able to help them on that front.
