Dallas Mavericks Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam
If the Toronto Raptors were to move Pascal Siakam this summer, we can assume that it’s because his skillset overlaps with Scottie Barnes.
Whether that’s a problem or not is a subject for debate. Some would suggest that having two big playmaking wings who defend is not a problem. Others would counter that until one or the other develops into an elite shooter, it could be.
The Raptors only move Siakam if they subscribe to the latter philosophy. In that event, we can assume they’ll be looking for players that do complement Barnes. Dorian Finney-Smith feels like a nice fit. He’s a consummate 3-and-D wing who doesn’t need the ball to make an impact on offense.
At the same time, the Raptors may have their sights set higher. This team may not have an interest in stockpiling draft capital. They could prefer to land a young player with at least some track record at the NBA level.

The Mavericks are conspicuously light on such players. They don’t have much to offer a rebuilding team outside of draft capital. If that’s the Raptors’ asking price, these sides will need to include a third team in order to make a deal work.
