In a word: probably. The Charlotte Hornets need a big man in the worst way. Montrezl Harrell, at 6’7, is not going to cut it. Mason Plumlee is a good rotation piece, but he’s simply not a starting-caliber center.
Anthony Davis, in an absolute worst-case scenario, will still perform like a fringe All-Star.
He may do significantly better than that. After all, Davis is only 29. If injuries have been the main culprit in his last two subpar seasons, there’s reason for optimism that he’ll bounce back.
if he does so in a Hornets jersey, this trade will be a steal for the boys in Buzz City. Davis, when healthy, is one of the best two-way big men in the NBA. He’d fill virtually every hole this Hornets team had in 2021-22.
