The NBA offseason is a time when most of the league’s teams are addressing needs. Neither the Los Angeles Lakers nor Charlotte Hornets are an exception to that rule.
The Lakers have a lot of needs. Arguably, an overwhelming amount. Primarily, they need to improve at virtually any cost. Their 33-win season in 2021-22 was a disaster.
The Hornets aren’t quite as ready. They’re built around the prodigious young LaMelo Ball, so their timeline isn’t as urgent.
Still, they do need to make some gains in 2022-23. In all likelihood, they’ll need a center in order to do so.

WIth that urgent need to improve, we couldn’t rule out a trade that sent the star big man elsewhere.
