Talen Horton-Tucker’s trade value is the subject of much debate. It’s a difficult thing to pin down.

On the one hand, the 21-year-old Horton-Tucker hasn’t had a great NBA season yet. Last year, his struggles were particularly obvious. The 26.9% he shot from long distance did not inspire confidence in his future trajectory.

On the other hand, could a 21-year-old be expected to thrive amongst the disaster that was the Lakers last season? Three-point shooting may not be Horton-Tucker’s strong suit, but some teams can build around that. A team featuring Russell Westbrook is just ill-equipped to do so.

Horton-Tucker is still a ball-handling wing with an outrageous wingspan and tremendous defensive potential. If the Pacers see that upside, this is a good deal for them.
